Personal Biography About the Founder & CEO of Smart-EQ Limited
The purpose of this article and video is to share some information about my personal working experience, academic achievements, and future goals. Highlights of my career throughout my life have included experience in residential real estate development as an entrepreneur including $15-20 million in affordable housing sales, and extensive knowledge from working in the Residential Construction, Logistics, and Canadian Oilfield sectors.
Returning to University at the age of thirty-five was a very life difficult decision. However, after graduating with distinction from two universities simultaneously including a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from NAIT, and a bachelor’s degree in Management from MacEwan University the experience proved to be very rewarding. Additional areas of focus during my academic studies included international business, international relations, and health education which helped to inspire the launch of this new business venture.
My future academic goals include the completion of graduate studies in a dual degree program such as the MBA/MPA at Harvard University which would be my first choice institution. Other post-secondary institutions under consideration would be the LSE in the United Kingdom, the University of Toronto, or the University of Calgary. Ultimately, the additional education will allow me to provide my clients and stakeholders with highly relevant information on emerging societal issues from the world's leading institutions while helping to launch this business venture and position me for future roles in the public sector.
My leadership philosophy can be reduced to the simple concept of obtaining perfect and harmonious balance. In addition, my personal values include ambition, integrity, and determination, which are considered instrumental in achieving both personal and interpersonal balance. Accordingly, I believe that personal leadership is multidimensional in nature, requiring social responsibility with respect to the community and the environment, and sound ethical practices in areas of business and politics. There are currently several societal issues that inspire me including the reduction of technological barriers in society, the eradication of homelessness, and social responsibility for both consumers and corporations.
My political philosophy right now strives to maintain a neutral balance between conflicting political viewpoints, known as the multipartisan viewpoint. For example, common issues like “Pro-Choice vs. Pro-Life” in my opinion are easily reconciled by adopting the Pro-Choice ideological position because Pro-Choice respects the rights of the individuals, doctors, and institutions to decide for themselves whether to engage in particular behaviours. Whereas the “Pro-Life” advocates do not fully respect the rights of others unless they are in agreement with the individual bias carried by these individuals. This general philosophy also extends to other controversial issues such as those in Environmental Social and Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, the Sustainable Development Goals, and Human Rights Issues including those affecting all notable minority groups in society.
My personal character can be difficult for people to read initially and ranges in nature from romantic, caring, and passionate to cynical, pragmatic, and deeply sarcastic. However, this works along with my unique superpower where after a flurry of questions directed at the person or group facing an intensive or challenging problem an immediate solution comes to mind even when faced with situations of extreme pressure, regardless of the circumstances.
In summary, my objective is to work with clients and stakeholders that provide unique and complex challenges that will enrich and compliment my future graduate studies, while building rapport in what is sure to be a mutually and highly productive working relationship well into the future.
